My weapons of choice all spread out! The stuff in the top row is used in that order generally. What does your arsenal look like?
Close up of the important stuff!

I have this one. I believe they take this wax out of Unicorn’s ears to make such a magical product.

Almost all of our stuff at the shop comes from giant blue barrels or smaller plastic containers from a company called Technicians’ Choice. My cart is on the right side of this picture.

pretty similar, but I would get that Meguiars leather junk out of there and spend the duckets for some Leatherique and Prestine Clean for real

Mine has been going for four years and I’ve had to really reign it in on many an occasion.
Yesterdays delivery.
I’m just a weekend warrior who likes to clean cars for free to relax.
Nor am I employed by Gtechniq, Bilt Hamber, Gyeon, Valet Pro, Auto Brite, Auto Smart, Sonus, Autofinesse or any other manufacturer.

Can I recommend some Invisible Glass?

Lol. I really love detailing. Nothing like spending eight hours chilling with a car, just me and a car. The world takes a back seat. I’m in north Cumbria so the weather isn’t always conducive to my hobby.

I wish you were closer. I would loan you some cars. Lol
I have to break it up into 2-3 days. By the time I wash and clay I’m done. Sometimes I may polish the same day, but I never wax the same day I started. Which means the stars have to align just right before I have 2 consecutive open days. My wife has to pretty much be out of town.

But how would I be able to see the glass then if it’s invisible? Lol, yes I definitely want some of that! I just use cheapo $1 store brand glass cleaner and rainx. So I could surely use better.

Man, I know I can always come to oppo to ensure myself that I'm not crazy. I thought I had too much stuff haha.

What's wrong with that leather cleaner? It seems to clean the stuff well enough and smells pretty good. Does it not protect like advertised?

I’ve never clayed (with a clay bar), I’ve used a clay block which is a rubberised textured foam block (you can get 20 cars out of it and doesn’t matter if you drop it, just rinse it and use).
Though a full clean may take 6-8 hours (or more if bad) a maintenance wash only takes an hour.
This took eight hours with two and a half hours for polishing by hand.
This one took six hours the first time.
and less than one hour two months later.

all of that actually dries out the oils in the leather that keep it supple. It looks okay right off, but for long term conditioning only use products that replenish the oils. And if you use the leatherique correctly you will see all the nasty crap that all the others leave behind. On one seat I used about 3 clean used socks after a day of conditioning and they were all jet black (leather was “tan”). Smells like a goddamn baseball glove for months afterward - as it should. Prestine is a good dressing for after, and works great on plastics and vinyl - non glossy very clean finish. Ph balanced

You can never have too much. But as long as you’ve a good wash mitt/closed cell sponge, two buckets and a good shampoo, you’ll be alright.
![]() 05/06/2015 at 20:05 |
|
Yeah I have to upgrade my sponge and get a second bucket.

Leatherique and Prestine are the best stuff? I’ll definitely find some and order it. Thanks for the tip! I definitely understand what you are talking about with the oils so I'll do it right. Baseball glove analogy is perfect.

The two bucket method (aka 2BM) may seem a little longer and more to carry around the car but once you look and then pour away the rinsing/plain water bucket and then the shampoo bucket you’ll see straight away what has been getting reintroduced to the car while washing because its easy to feel that the dirt is coming off when using the one bucket, but your also agitating the dirt already in the bucket back onto the wash media.
Your microfibre noodle wash pad is one of the most ideal medias for washing a car. Any way you can remove as much dirt before touching the car or softening the dirt before touching the car will pay dividends to maintaining the appearance and state of the paintwork.

amazon has great deals on it. Stuff is made from beef and vegetable fats and magic. If your interior is nicked up at all or faded the color kits work amazing. I have done it and will vouch 100% for it. Have a 53 bentley that used the full kit
